1956 Asbury park candy wheel

The candy wheel before you was designed locally here at the Jersey Shore by an artisan who made the bulk of arcade wheels spinning down the coast. Murray Rubin ran this wheel on the Asbury Park boardwalk from the mid-’50s to the mid-’70s just south of the casino building. This restored wheel would be spun by a patron who would “play” as many spots as desired on the betting board and press the button to start the wheel spinning. And then press the button to stop on (hopefully) a winner picked by the player (the coin on the winning combination was announced the winner). A lot of cavities were made back in those days. Interestingly, no age limits were required to place a bet back in the day…wheels like this are still on location up and down the shore. Place your bets!
